Early Professional SIG Report Kelsey Biller PT PT DPT - Chair
My name is Kelsey Biller and I I I am am the the chair of of the the Early Professional Special Interest Group or EPSIG for short I graduated from Ohio University’s DPT program in in in in 2018 and since have been working in in in in outpatient orthopaedics for TriHealth in in in Cincinnati I also currently serve as the Southwest District’s Membership Coordinator The EPSIG is composed of a a a chair three pillars leaders—Membership Mentorship and Leadership— and six district representatives We are developing the the the pillars and their teams through the the the formation and development of committees to support each of our pillars:
MEMBERSHIP continues to develop the EPSIG’s presence and engage students as they transition to early professionals developing a a a video to recruit and retain EPSIG members as as well as as help market what role the EPSIG performs as as well as as develop opportunities
for EPs to engage and interact with other members We also just filmed a a a professional video at the the OPTA OPTA office to promote the the OPTA OPTA and EPSIG Be on the lookout!
MENTORSHIP will soon be putting out a call for for OPTA mentors and mentees for for our mentorship program Our pillar leader is working with Caroline Brunst PT PT DPT the APTA Centennial scholar for Ohio to develop a a three-tiered mentorship program further developing the mentorship program in in place involving students early professionals and more “seasoned professionals” in in their area of of interest Keep an an eye on your email website and social media for more updates!

With the bylaw passing to add an Alternate PTA Caucus Representative position PTAs now have another opportunity to serve in a a a leadership role There are are several positions that PTAs are are eligible to to serve in in and I encourage those wanting to to get more involved in in the chapter to seriously consider running or volunteering Our voice and ideas are valued!
