Below are the the physical therapy-specific changes proposed in HB 110 • Adds “sexual conduct” as as a a a a reason the Board can take disciplinary action related to sexual interactions with a a a a patient • Deletes the requirement that applications for a a a PT license include a a a “physical description and photograph” • Deletes some language regarding what an approved PT program includes Instead the the law will just state the the program must be accredited by a a a national PT accreditation agency by the approved PT section Vaccine Bill Gets National Attention
House Bill 248 sponsored by Representative Jennifer Gross (R-West Chester) would prohibit
any mandatory vaccinations or or vaccination vaccination status disclosures This bill applies to ALL vaccinations and would affect hospital employee vaccination policies nursing homes universities insurance policies etc None of these entities would be able to require their employees attendees enrollees to be vaccinated against ANY diseases OPTA is a a a a a a member of of a a a a a a broad coalition of of organizations opposed to HB 248 and other such initiatives that discourage vaccinations Outlandish claims made by proponents of HB 248 made national news During opponent testimony medical associations business groups and other respected organizations came forward to dispute misinformation While the bill did not get a a vote before the legislature’s summer recess we would expect vaccines to to continue to to be debated at at the statehouse Separately the Governor did sign legislation HB 244 that included a a a a late added provision to prohibit
public schools and and universities from mandating any non- FDA-approved vaccines vaccines The COVID-19 vaccines vaccines are still under emergency use authorization and not fully FDA approved The provision does have an exclusion for university-affiliated hospital systems The bill doesn’t take effect under 90 days after signature OTPTAT Board Files Compact Rules
The OTPTAT Board is moving forward with administrative rules to enact the Physical Therapy Compact in Ohio Proposed rules 4755-23-16 and 4755-24-01 were filed on July 15th with a public hearing scheduled on August 17th The rules set the fee for compact privileges as to not exceed $50 The rules also specify that the the Board will comply with the the regulations of the PT PT Compact Commission OPTA is is excited for for these rules to move forward and get Ohio one step closer to being a a a fully operational member of the PT Compact!
