Southwest District Report Kelly Moore, PT, DPT - Chair
Greetings from the Southwest District! We ended 2018 with some great events and are currently looking forward to many more wonderful events in 2019 . On Aug . 21, we hosted a Concussion Course at Cincinnati Children’s presented by Jason Hugentobler, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS . Thanks, Jason, for presenting to us . We enjoyed the class and learned a lot! On Oct . 6, 25 district members participated in a PT Day of Service event at
the Freestore Foodbank . Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was wonderful to give back to the community . On Oct . 9, Lizanne Mulligan, PT, PhD presented a Cadaver Review Course at the University of
Cincinnati . The class was full of eager learners as we
and your fabulous lab assistants! Your courses are always a huge success! Lastly, we rounded out the year with a final PT Pub Night at the Cock and Bull in Glendale . We had a wonderful time networking and hope more of you will join us next time!
The Southwest District board met in December
to plan events for 2019, and we appreciate the feedback members provided on our yearly survey . We took your comments into account during our planning meeting . We already have some great courses and other events in the works for this year! Our first event of the year will be a panel discussion geared towards students and early professionals when OPTA Board President Tonya Apke, PT, DPT, OCS comes to visit our district in February . We have also coordinated a combined district PT Pub Night with West Central District this March . In addition, we have some CEU courses in the works and we plan to participate in PT Day of Service again this year .
reviewed lower extremity anatomy . Thanks, Lizanne,
In closing, the Southwest District begins 2019 with a transition in leadership . Effective February 2019, I am stepping down as district chair and Tracy Moody Cessna, PT will be our new appointed district chair . I wanted
to take a minute to thank everyone for their help, encouragement, and support of our great district during my tenure as district chair! We have accomplished some wonderful things together and shared many successes in the last three years . I am so proud of our district members and leaders . I am really excited about where our district is currently and where we are headed . I certainly leave the district in very capable hands . Tracy has been a leader in our district serving in various
roles including state affairs chair and education chair .
I am really excited to see where she and the rest of
our Southwest District leadership team take us in the future . I also cannot thank our wonderful district board members enough . They have supported me immensely and know they’ll support Tracy in the same way! I am
so grateful to OPTA, our leaders, and our members . Together we are doing great things! Best wishes to all of you in 2019, and I’ll look forward to seeing you at future Southwest District events!
