Central District Report
Daniel Chelette, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT - Chair
Hello OPTA Members! In the latter half of 2018 and into 2019, there has been great excitement and change within the Central District . Since the Summer of 2018, the following changes have occurred on our board:
 Chair: Daniel Chelette
Vice-Chair: Mandi Vonderhaar Secretary: Erik Hemingway Membership Chair: Leah Vertullo Communications Chair: Kayla Borchers Legislative Affairs Chair: Ken Kirby
We are also currently in the process of filling the remaining two positions on our board, as we feel it is important have all positions filled to move forward with our agenda for the coming year . That agenda is focused on answering the following question:
What is your Why?
As a board, our “Why” for serving in these positions is simple: to give back to a profession that we love and to help our colleagues further their hopes
and aspirations as people and professionals .
One major way that we will be giving back this year is in hosting a Member Appreciation Event
in the summer . This event will be a chance for Central District, main office and state leadership
to say “thank you” to the members that make our work possible . It will also be an opportunity for attendees to hear directly from Central District and state leadership regarding the work we are doing

and why we are doing it . More information will be coming out soon regarding this exciting event!
Also, in 2019, we want to hear directly from you, our members, on what your “Why” is for being an OPTA member and how we as the Central District board can help you achieve that . We will be reaching out to you in at least two ways this year:
1) Membership Needs Survey: This survey will be brief and simple in its purpose- Giving members an opportunity to tell us what they need from us to better fulfill their missions as physical therapists
2) Digital Suggestion Box: This will be a continuously open forum for all Central District members to ask questions, make comments, and voice concerns . As
a board, we will collectively seek to answer these questions and act upon these concerns to maximize our members’ experiences .
2019 will be a year for growth and transformation within the Central District . As a board we invite you to answer this question along with us:
What is your Why?
