The Northwest District offered two continuing education events in December and January . On December 10, Dr . Clay Carmody, a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon, presented at St . Anne’s Hospital in Toledo . His presentation was “Post-Operative Considerations in Surgeries around the Foot and Ankle” and over 40 people attended .
Northwest District sponsored the 9th Annual Robert Livengood Student Research Forum held on January 19 at The University of Toledo . The DPT students presented their scholarly projects using
a thematic poster format . Dr . Sally Taylor, Therapy Manager at Shirley Ryan Abilitylab and Assistant Professor at Northwestern University presented “SCIRehab: Personal, Professional & Patient Impact .”
Dr . Colton Rhinebolt has been elected to serve a three-year term as the Northwest District representative for the Early Professional SIG .
Angie Huber, an instructor at The University of Findlay DPT program has agreed to serve on the Nominating Committee for our district . The 9th Annual Robert Livengood Student Research Forum offered the students an opportunity to present their scholarly projects at this Northwest District-sponsored event on Jan. 19.
The East Central District is looking forward to an eventful year in 2019!
In January, the East Central District’s board met in Fairlawn to discuss planning the upcoming year of events . We have numerous member recruitment and social events planned, including two PT Pub nights and our Third Annual PAC Fundraiser at
an Akron RubberDucks baseball game in July . In addition to a successful APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Course held at Walsh University in January, we are planning to offer two CEU events later this year to promote professional growth of our members! CEU events include:
• May – EDS and the PT Continuum from IRF to OP at Summa Rehab Hospital
• November – Student Research Symposium (Location TBD)
