APTA’s Vision Statement for the Physical Therapy profession is Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience . The guiding principles to achieve the vision include facilitating movement as a key to optimal quality of life for all people that extends beyond health to every person's ability to participate in and contribute to society. That’s why "OPTimize MOVEment: OPTA's Lecture Series and Research Showcase" will focus on advancing the integration of the movement system as the core of physical therapist (PT/PTA) practice, education, and research .
The "movement system" represents the collection of systems (cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine, integumentary, nervous, and musculoskeletal) that interact to move the body or its component parts .
