Political Action Committee Report Heather Schradin, PT, DPT, CIDN - Chair
So far this year we have hosted our annual PACcy Hour along with our basket raffle at Annual Conference. We had a great turn out this year with great music, good food and an open bar! West Central District hosted a “paint and pour” to bring out their inner artist while East Central District hosted their annual evening with the Akron Rubber Ducks .
Looking to the future, we will again host a basket drawing at OPTimize; stay tuned for more details . If you’re looking to get more involved, donating to the PAC is always helpful . My goals for the PAC this year include continued district involvement with a goal of $500 from each district fundraiser,
continued education to members of what the PAC is and why it is important to donate and to raise $19,000 in 2019 .
Thank you to those involved in the PAC for your hard work . If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact me; feedback and ideas are always welcome .

Creativity was on full display as West Central District members enjoyed a "paint and pour" to benefit the OPT-PAC.
Early Professional SIG Report Drew Snyder, PT, DPT - Chair
The Early Professional SIG is OPTA’s newest Special Interest Group . The purpose of the SIG is to provide a forum for communication to advance the personal and professional development of physical therapists and physical therapy assistants within their first five years of practice. After assessing the needs of our early professional members, we established three pillars, or areas of focus, for the SIG: a Leadership Pillar to promote leadership development, a Mentorship Pillar to allow for mentorship opportunities, and a Membership Pillar to promote the benefits of membership.

Back in March, OPTA hosted it first Financial Wellness program for early professionals in Columbus . We will be working to provide additional opportunities for our members to benefit from the immense knowledge and connections within the broader association to allow our members to continue to develop and grow in the profession, both inside and outside of the clinic .
Beginning in September, the EPSIG will be launching the OPTA CONNECT Program . This program is designed to “connect” our early professional members with more experienced members within the association to establish mentor/mentee relationships . To our early professional members, if you are eager to continue your professional development then this will be an
incredibly valuable program for you . If you are a
more “seasoned” OPTA member and have a passion for helping to cultivate the next generation of leaders within the OPTA, then we’d love for you to volunteer to help the very talented members of the EPSIG . If you are interested in this program, additional details can be found online at https://www.ohiopt.org/page/ OPTACONNECT .
If you are an early professional and interested in joining the SIG, you can go to https://www.ohiopt. org/page/EarlyProfSIG to read more about us, or connect with me below .
