Morphology

Chemical ✓ The fruit is berry oblong conical, bilocular, axile placentation.
test ✓ Capsicum is dull orange red to brownish red in color.
✓ Seeds are derived from campylotropous ovule.
✓ Extremely fiery pungent taste???

Test for pungency: pungency not destroyed by solution of caustic alkali but

only destroyed by oxidizing agents as potassium permanganate or

dichromate.
Test for capsaicin: red color with 66% H₂SO₄
