n 1906, in the village of Obdorsk (Salekhard), hegumen Irinarch (I.

S. Shemanovs ky), who was the senior priest of Obdorsk Ortho-

dox mission, opened “The Ethnography Collections Storehouse of

I the Non-Russians in Tobolsk North” under St. Gurias Brotherhood

library. In 1996, the regional studies museum was granted the name of its

Yuryevna, founder. The successor of the museum that is the Museum and Exhibition

in “Yamal-Nenets District Complex (MEC) named after I. S. Shemanovsky was established in 2002;
