  PUBLIC SECTOR EXPERIENCE | MUNICIPAL
ILLINOIS STATE CAPITAL HOUSE AND SENATE CHAMBERS
The Illinois State Capital House and Senate Chambers project, built for the Illinois Capital Development Board, involved 19,458 square feet of renovations to the legislative building located in Springfield, IL. The facility contains the State of Illinois’ House and Senate Chambers and functions as an assembly room for the State’s legislative branch. Renovations to the legislative chambers included new millwork, metal handrails, wood paneling, plaster ceilings, painting, carpet, marble columns, and circular art glass. A new lay light assembly, light gauge steel, and a gypsum board enclosure box completed the construction. The project
also featured the installation of new theater seating, member desks, speaker podiums, and indirect lighting, as well as replacement of the heating ventilation and air conditioning systems in both houses, and removal of asbestos. This project received the 2007 Director’s Award for Pride in Partnership, the 2008 Architect Woodwork Institute (AWI) Standard of Excellence Award for a Public Facility Project, and the 2008 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Award for Interior Architecture.
