CORE | K-12 EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
   BARKLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Barkley Elementary School project, built for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, included the new construction of a two-story, 142,049-square-foot elementary school located on the Fort Campbell Army Base in Fort Campbell, KY. The facility supports 550 students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The elementary school was constructed utilizing a concrete foundation with insulating foam footings, an insulating concrete foam structural frame, an exterior of fiber reinforced cement panels, and a single-ply, polymer-modified bitumen sheet, built-up roof. The project also features geothermal heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, a photovoltaic solar array, and solar water heating systems as well as an outdoor play court, amphitheater, indoor multipurpose gymnasium, sidewalks, playgrounds, and parking areas. The elementary school achieved LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for optimized energy performance and indoor environmental air quality. Due to CORE’s construction efforts, the Barkley Elementary School project now provides an energy efficient and open classroom environment for student collaboration.
