FITNESS AND RECREATION CENTER AT TEXAS WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY
The Fitness and Recreational Center, built for Texas Women’s University, included the new construction of a 40,657-square-foot wellness center located in Denton, TX. The wellness center was constructed on a case drilled piers foundation with a concrete frame and modified bitumen roof. The center also features a full- sized National Collegiate Athletic Association compliant basketball court, two weight training rooms, a climbing wall with rappelling station, locker rooms, a lounge for video gaming and socializing, group exercise rooms, meeting rooms, and offices. The facility functions as a centralized location for recreational sports and fitness training for students, faculty, and staff. This project achieved LEED Silver Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the U.S. Green Building Council. Due to CORE’s efficient project coordination, the Fitness and Recreation Center project was completed successfully and without hindering student pedestrian traffic around the construction area.
