f you are a finisher, you know that you live and die by the happi-
ness of your customers. A truly happy customer does not need or
Iwant to think about you particularly, because that shipment of
coated and finished components they just received is so flawlessly
smooth, strong, and defect-free that they are on to the next step for
their customers. Easy, right? But with coating and finishing, like
pretty much everything in life, looks are deceiving.
The Agricultural, Construction, and Earthmoving (ACE) equip-
ment industry requires well-built processes with uniform high-
performance iron-phosphate coatings. These robust processes
include consistent corrosion protection, higher coating weights, and
subsequent paint performance. Two very well-known and reputable
manufacturers, John Deere and Caterpillar, are so committed,
that John Deere maintains extremely high-quality standards for
suppliers, and Caterpillar even maintains its own specification; its
suppliers must be 1E 4093-B approved.
