   A vibrant melting pot of cultures, Hong Kong boasts many museums, concert halls and performance venues, and a vast array of cultural events from around the world. Hong Kong is the world's 3rd largest art auction market, after New York and London.
The West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), spanning 40 hectares, is one of the largest cultural projects in the world. With a variety of performance spaces and museums, the cultural quarters will produce and host world-class exhibitions, performances, and arts and cultural events and consolidate Hong Kong's position as a major cultural hub.
Cultural hub
v The first performing arts venue, the Xiqu Centre, dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of xiqu, opened in January 2019;
v The Art Park opened in full in early 2020;
v Freespace, ready in mid-
2019, presents a brand new arts experience for audiences;
v M+, a museum on visual culture in the WKCD, is targeted for opening in 2021;
v Construction of the Hong Kong Palace Museum which will display artefacts of Chinese art and culture from the collections of the Palace Museum, Beijing
is underway.
