v Since 2013, Art Basel Hong Kong has yearly attracted more than 200 leading galleries from around the world to participate in the gala. The event helps Hong Kong cement its place as the epicentre of Asia’s international art scene;
v Annually, over 100 contemporary galleries from around the world showcase cutting-edge works by exciting new talent at Art Central;
v Other prominent events include Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Asia Contemporary Art Show, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Le French May, Chinese Opera Festival, International Arts Carnival and World Cultures Festival;
v The city hosts top-tier galleries and auction houses such as the Gagosian, White Cube, Christie’s and Sotheby’s.
Fine museums
Hong Kong’s museums offer a variety of exhibitions from near and far, past and present. Major museums include Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Hong Kong Science Museum, Hong Kong Space Museum, Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence, and Hong Kong Maritime Museum. The newly renovated Hong Kong Museum of Art features permanent exhibition of Wu Guanzhong’s and Chih Lo Lou’s collections.
