  Public Outreach through Exhibitions and Melas
Setting up of digital exhibits on Mahatma Gandhi at different locations across the country
The project was to ‘Set up Digital Exhibits on Mahatma Gandhi at Multiple Locations across the Country’ in response to the call from the Ministry of Culture (MoC) as part of the programme to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Vigyan Prasar was given the responsibility to set up a Digital Exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi at 17 centres across the country with a total of 10 digital exhibits. The key objectives were:
l To develop an interactive virtual reality exhibit on Gandhiji’s life through technologies.
l To carry the legacy of Gandhiji with technologies through a virtual journey.
l To upgrade the exhibition at all the 17
centres with the latest technologies.
Ten digital exhibits developed at each location were:
l Smart Interface for Multiuser Engagement: 2 units
l Smart surface: 4 units
l Virtual Holographic Display: 2 units l Transparent display screen: 2 units
The themes and thrust area covered were the key elements used by Gandhiji to promote and highlight his ideology, footprints, and significant movements, key books written, and chronology of his life aimed at:
