Science Film Screening and workshops on science films at Nepal and Bangladesh
i) VP conducted following workshops, curated sessions and meetings in Nepal: lA meeting with Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, Kathmandu, Nepal on 16 August 2019 to explore the collaboration for joint publication and translation of VP publications in Nepali. lA session on “Science Documentary film: A tool for the generation of scientific and environmental awareness in society” in an International Conference “Natural Resources, Agriculture and Society in a Changing Climate (NRACC-2019)” was conducted during 17-19 August 2019 at Kathmandu, Nepal.
lA workshop and a curated session on science film along with screening of award-winning science films of NSFFI was organised at Kathmandu University, Nepal on 18 August 2019. Students and faculty of mass communication and film making courses attended the workshop.
ii) VP conducted following science film screening sessions and meetings in Bangladesh:
lA science film screening session with the award-winning films of NSFFI on climate change was conducted as a part of the International Conference “Climate Change and Small Ethnic Communities of South and Southeast Asia” held on 9-10 February 2020 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. A key-note speech “Science Communication through Films” was also presented by VP.
l“The effect of science documentary films on student’s sensitivity on climate change and biodiversity: a case study” was presented by VP during the conference session on ‘Climate Change, Indigenous Knowledge and Biodiversity’.
