   General Medals/Lectures: Medals in this category recognize outstanding contribution to any branch of science. These medals are: Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman Medal; Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Medal; Meghnad Saha Medal; Aryabhata Medal. The lecture awards are: Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Lecture; Daulat Singh Kothari Memorial Lecture; Sisir Kumar Mitra Memorial Lecture; Kariamanikkam Srinivasa Krishnan Memorial Lecture. Twelve subject-wise lecture awards have also been instituted by INSA. Besides these, there are 16 medals and 23 lecture awards through endowments. INSA honours teachers who excel
in providing guidance, inspiration and mentoring students for careers in science and technology.
To acknowledge outstanding efforts in science popularization two awards are given: Indira Gandhi
Prize for Popularization of Science (6 awards, Cash prize, Citation & Medal) and Medal for Promotion and Service to Science (Gold Medal & Citation).
HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
Inter-Academy Activity – Science Education: Under this programme, INSA conducts joint activities with Indian Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Sciences. Every year, over 1500 students at graduate and postgraduate
levels are provided with an opportunity of direct exposure to research. For teachers, the activity offers access to facilities and collaborations. DST-INSPIRE Fellowships: On behalf of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), INSA conducts a selection process for the DST Program
