Description and Functionality
Currently available Braille Slates are robust and difficult to carry by visually challenged school children. The space between the lines in the existing slates is less and poses difficulty in reading with fingers, punching and gets deformed. The Interline Braille Slate is designed and developed in such a way that the lines have enough space to read. The board has two flaps of A4 size paper. The flaps are hinged so that it can be opened like a notebook. Using this slate, one can write 30 characters in a row and 17 lines on one side of the paper. There is no need of removing the paper from the slate to write on the other side as it can be turned and start brailing or punching.
State-of-the-art
The device has universal design concept and has the concept of Inter Line Brailing System. A4 size papers can be used for writing and there is no need of reversing paper manually. The slate was specially designed to offer the option of writing on strips of paper or plastic foil (for use in labeling items) and is made of durable ABS plastic, less in weight and easy to carry.
