"That lamb which was
commanded to be wholly
roasted was a symbol of the
suffering of the cross which
Christ would undergo.
For the lamb ... is roasted and
dressed up in the form of the
cross. For one spit is
transfixed right through from
the lower parts up to the head,
and one across the back, to
which are attached the legs of the lamb."
The day after
Passover,
Israelites observed
the Feast of
Unleavened
Bread, where they
removed from their
homes all the
leaven or yeast --
symbolic of sin.
Jesus, “who taketh away the sins of the world,” was in
the tomb on the exact day that leaven was taken out of
Israelite homes on the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
Paul wrote in I
Corinthians 5:6–8:
"Know ye not that
a little leaven
leaveneth the
whole lump?
Purge out
therefore the old leaven ...
