AC KC Governor of NSW, who said in her opening speech “She believed there was something special about Dubbo. Dubbo people don’t hide behind it, they are very proud of it, and
I understand why you are so proud coming from Dubbo”.
The show continues to combine the traditional elements we all know and love about Agricultural Shows, with exciting exhibits and headline entertainment to keep people coming back again and again.
Secretary, Mrs Sue Hood who recently celebrated her 40th year with the Dubbo Show Society, says “Shows today have seen & experienced a lot of changes. The constraints put on them with new rules & regulations put in place by Governments makes the task of staging a show a lot more difficult.
The Show movement is one I
am pleased to be involved with,
the many people I have met & made friends with, I am sure
would not have happened if not
for being involved with the Show Society. I thank the people that invited me to become a part of
the Dubbo Show. A show will
take you anywhere, give you conversation with anyone & also gives you a feeling of achievement & satisfaction in creating something for someone else’s enjoyment. “
On the Friday evening of the show, a function was held to thank sponsors and hold a “soft” launch of the book. During this function, Mrs Sue Hood was surprised by Lew Osborne, who presented her with a plaque
from the Showmen’s Guild of Australasia “In appreciation of her tireless dedication to the Dubbo Show and invaluable support of the Showmen’s Guild of Australasia”.
The Dubbo Show Society also received a commemorative plaque from the Guild in congratulations
of 150 years during the evening.
With final figures yet to be announced, it is believed to have been almost 30,000 people in attendance over the three days, which in any terms, is deemed another successful event for
the Dubbo Show Society Inc.
