Hello to all showmen, show societies and friends of our industry,
As I write this article we are emerging from a cold wet southern winter and our spring show run is upon us, which also heralds the capital show season.
Omicron, Delta A or whatever name the virus has this week has regrouped and coupled with the influenza virus to infect many of our fellow countrymen. Sadly many people have passed away also.
The governments have elected not to shut us all down and hide from the virus (s) and when we have been able to trade by all reports we have done well.
In June we had our annual general meeting and were down a little on attendee numbers. This was due to work commitments and health issues.
Tamara Allen attended the AALARA conference on the Guild’s behalf and was made a member of the committee looking into inflatable device regulations to hopefully come up with better standards for that part of our industry.
The rent relief program facilitated by the Victorian Showmen’s Guild has been well received and through these pages we thank them for their time in getting all of us to the point of getting reimbursed, which was a lot of paperwork to get the end result.
