"Here I am again, losing a family membe r so clos e in proxi mity. My brot he r's gr ave wasn' t eve n warm and now I
have to prepare to lay my father to rest. He w as a bi g i ns pi ration i n m y l ife a nd e ve ry s ingl e da y I t hi nk a bout a ll t hr ee
of them and what happened and how they l os t t he ir l ive s," s aid Edwa rds .
The tragic deaths of Edwards's two brothers and fathe r are a reminde r to hi m why he cont inue s to serve and pr ot ect.
He hopes that when he interacts with the publ ic, t he y c an s ee he t rul y c ares a nd unde rstands w ha t t he y m ight be goi ng
through. By sharing his personal story with the com muni ty, Edwa rds believe s peopl e will see hi m for who he is and
not just a police officer.
"Because of what happened to my two brot he rs and fathe r, I get a cha nc e to be tha t pe rson tha t wor ks from the ins ide
going out. I am going to do everything I can from withi n the pol ice de pa rtment to show the com muni ty tha t cha nge
can happen," explained Edwards. "I can't s ay I a m the be st pol ice of ficer on t he s treets, but I t ry a nd be t he be st."
