Consideration in Shallow Foundation Design Correlation Between JKR Probe & Bearing Capacity
iv. Confirmatory Probe Test (JKR/Mackintosh Probe) shall be carried out at every
column position
v. Design values for soil bearing capacity:
• 20 blows/300mm for 50kN/m 2
• 30 blows/300mm for 75kN/m 2
• 40 blows/300mm for 100kN/m 2
• 56 blows/300mm for 150kN/m 2
v. Plate Bearing Test shall be carried out when allowable soil bearing capacity is ≥ 150
kN/m
2
vi. Screeding of the excavated pit shall be carried out immediately
Notes: Notes:
If the soil bearing capacity below the spesified foundation depth is not 1 PSF (lbs/Sq.ft) =
achieved, the underlying soil below that foundation should be removed 0.04788 KN/m²
1 TSF (Ton/Sq.ft) = 100
and replaced with the following materials: kN/m²
30% aggregate with 50 mm in size; or
mixture of crusher run and 70% of sand; or
100% sand + 1% of cement; or Table 6: Correlation between JKR Probe Value and Soil Bearing Capacity
Laterite soil (moisture content < 18%) + 3% of cement
