Dear Ms. Church:
Your Medicare evaluation is enclosed. Please check the information on the client data sheet on
page 5 to make sure it is correct. The costs shown in your evaluation are estimates for the
entire 2019 plan year, although you will be enrolled in Medicare for only 10 months this year.
Because you are already enrolled in Part A and Part B effective March 1, the only task that
remains is to choose your supplemental coverage. If you enroll before the end of February and
your coverage goes into effect on March 1, you can then discontinue your employer’s plan.
Your supplemental coverage options
In your questionnaire you indicated that you want to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. Your
evaluation compares three Advantage plans and one Medigap policy. The Medigap policy is
included for you to see the differences in these two types of coverage.
When you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan that includes prescription drug benefits, you
need only to make one phone call – to the plan that you’ve chosen. When you enroll in an
Advantage plan that includes Rx drug benefits, you will also be enrolled in Part D. The phone
numbers of the Advantage plans compared in your evaluation are shown on pages 2-3 of the
evaluation and in the appendices.
The Advantage plans in your evaluation
There are 28 Medicare Advantage plans that include Rx drug coverage in Fulton County. These
plans are listed in Appendix B6. In this list, the plans are sorted by their costs for the
prescription drugs that you take, with the lowest-cost plans listed first. The costs shown in
Appendix 6 are for the last ten months of the year, but the costs shown in the evaluation are
for the full year (to give you a better idea of your annual costs in the years ahead).
The three Advantage plans that have the lowest costs for your drugs are all sponsored by
Wellcare. But the only one of your providers who is listed in these plans’ networks is Dr. Harper.
Two of the Wellcare plans are PPO’s, and so you would have some coverage if you went to an
out-of-network provider, but you would likely wind up paying much more in out-of-network
costs than you would save in prescription drug costs.
