P. 5

Rx drugs you take if you get mail-order refills, and your only cost is the plan’s $17 monthly
premium. This plan does not have preferred pharmacies, so you can go to CVS or almost any
other pharmacy and get similar prices when you need short-term prescriptions filled.

               Analysis

As you can see by comparing each plan’s minimum costs on page 3, you will probably save
money by enrolling in one of the Advantage plans in your evaluation. But Advantage plans
typically have higher out-of-pocket risks, and as people age and use more medical services, the
               risk increases.

Moreover, there’s a slight chance that when people wait until later retirement to get a Medigap
policy, they might not be able to get one. While this risk is small, it’s one to be aware of.
Another option is initially to choose one of the less comprehensive and less expensive Medigap
plans. Then if you wish you can later upgrade to a more comprehensive plan. In the state of
Washington, there’s no risk in waiting to upgrade if you already have a Medigap policy (other
               than Plan A).

Mr. Doe, after you’ve reviewed the evaluation please let me know if you have any questions.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind as you make the transition to Medicare. On your
initial visits to your doctors after March 1, show the office staff your enrollment cards for
Medicare A&B and the supplemental coverage you’ve selected. And even though you’re going
to get mail-order refills, on your first visit to the pharmacy show the pharmacy staff the
membership card for the plan you’re enrolled in. That will help to avoid any later billing
               confusion.

Also, you’re entitled to a free “Welcome to Medicare” physical (see page 11 of the evaluation),
but you’ll probably have to request it.

                                                   Sincerely,

                                                   David Armes, CFP®
