It is possible that digital
solutions in the future can
provide for biblical community
in ways that we cannot
presently foresee. Already, the
offline and online worlds are
blurring in remarkable ways.
That doesn’t account for the huge upspring in churches that stream their services to reach more people,
or create content for YouTube, podcasts and social media, where it connects with people at their point
of need.
Digital discipleship tools that allow people to engage seven days a week can rejuvenate the landscape of
faith around the world! Imagine an explosion of innovation and new solutions to help reach and grow
people. The digital revolution allows us to use technology to tell the story of Jesus to new generations.
How do we seamlessly merge in-person and online tools to help reach people, connect them with each
other and grow in their faith?
Imagine a 16-year-old being able to do a Bible devotional with their youth pastor and small group on
their smart phone. When they attend an in-person service, they continue their devotional questions,
where the teaching series is from the same passage of scripture. Then they’re able to connect with an
older mentor during the week for a one-on-one Zoom call and also engage with the church missions
program through an online tool. This is just one example of a seamless, multi-mode integration of the
amazing benefits of digital tools, combined with the richness of physical community.
