You will often find that ereading devices and apps are linked to specific retailers – for example, someone using the Kindle App or a Kindle device will buy their ebooks from Amazon; an iPad user can have accounts with a variety of ebook retailers, but may prefer to use iBooks, the default app for that device. When doing your marketing, it is useful to link all of your marketing communications to a selection of the main retailers so that readers can easily locate your ebook on their chosen platform. It is certainly important for you to make sure your readers know that the ebook is widely available through the main platforms and not just from one specific retailer (see p.7 on how to find your URL on retailers’ websites).
When contacting your friends, family and acquaintances to find out if they are willing to read and review your ebook, it’s good practice to let them have the links to your ebook on all the retailer websites so that they can download and review the book from the one they prefer.
How to leave a review on the main ebook retailer sites
Many ereading devices will prompt readers to leave a review once they have completed a book. However, it is also possible to go to the website of the retailer and leave a review there too – this is a quick guide on how to do this.
Nook: Readers can leave reviews on Nook Press’ parent company website, Barnes & Noble, without having to log in or needing an account. They need to visit http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nook-press-pubit-self-publish-ebookpublishing/ 379003086/, search for your ebook and then click Write a Review.
Amazon: Readers will need to have an account with Amazon before they can leave a review of an ebook. Once logged in to an account, simply search for your ebook and then leave their review. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kindle-eBooks- books/b/ref=nav_shopall_kbo5?ie=UTF8&node=34168903.
