15 Social Media Marketing Handbook
Your main aim when it comes to your Facebook page is to increase the number of ‘Likes’ you have. It’s not as effective to create interactive posts connecting other users on Facebook, but Facebook is great for displaying media content, like pictures, posters and embedded links.
Drive people to your Facebook page by Tweeting your Facebook link and encouraging people to ‘Like’ it. As with all social media, add new information regularly – there’s nothing worse than seeing a social media site that has not been updated for weeks on end!
Again, we come back to the fact that social media is social. To build a following, you need to keep this in the forefront of your mind. Remember to engage with your existing followers as well as replying to anyone who reaches out, whether that’s through them replying to a tweet or retweeting you. You want to establish a connection.
Other ideas include:
• Asking for readers’ opinions. It could be about anything, from the best review quote to put on a graphic you’re making to the best sandwich filling. Just make sure to interact and make those connections.
• Get involved with trending topics like International Women’s Day or even just National Cat Day! This is a great way to reach new people who might be otherwise unaware of you.
• Host a giveaway, you can ask people to follow and retweet to enter and even if some then unfollow you, it’s all about visibility.
• Do a cover reveal, either yourself or on a friendly blog.
• Celebrate ‘book birthdays’ and get involved with the writing community.
