Involves placement of the radioactive source in a space next to
the target tissue or tumor.
The radiation therapist team may place the positioning
applicators or devices by hand or may use a computerized
machine.
Imaging equipment, such as CT scanner or ultrasound machine
may be used to ensure the device is placed in the most effective
location.
Can be divided into intracavitary, intraluminal, surface and
intravascular.
