A very important one was that the laws of
physics still work the same way on an object
even if that object is inside something that is
moving. For example, if you are in a bus and
throw a ball straight up in the air, that ball will
come back down in your hand even though the
bus is moving. This third paper introduced
the world to what became known
as Albert’s “Theory of
Special Relativity.”
The fourth of Albert’s “miracle
year” papers was published on
November 21. In this paper, Albert
discussed the amount of energy that
was inside any object. There were
two parts to this. The first part was
kinetic energy, which is how much
energy an object has when it is moving.
The second part was rest energy, which
is how much energy an object has when
it isn’t moving. The ideas in this paper
introduced the world to Albert’s most
well-known equation: E=mc .
