allowed as much time as he
wanted to work on his theories.
When Albert was first
offered the position at the
University of Berlin, he

MAX PLANCK
Max Planck (1858–1947) was a German
physicist. His greatest contribution to the
field concerned quantum theory. This dealt
with the behavior of light and matter at the
atomic and subatomic levels. It earned
him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918.
