Slash-mulch site
now open!
Wild re preparedness begins at home, dispose of branches properly.
Did you know that disposing of branches and shrubbery properly not only helps to mitigate properties for wildland  re prevention, but also is good for the environment?
Douglas County’s slash-mulch site, at 1400 Caprice Drive in Castle Rock, opened April 7 and will remain open on Saturdays-only from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. through October 27. The perfect place to dispose of branches and shrubbery, the site also gives residents the opportunity to go home with fresh mulch.
Acceptable items at both sites include tree branches, shrubbery and loose pine needles with a maximum length of 6 ft. and maximum diameter of 12 inches.
Items that will not be accepted at either site include appliances, dirt, grass, household trash, lumber, railroad ties, roots, stumps and weeds. Click here for the website.
