Learn about birds native
to Town with a two-part
bird watching class. PART
1: Basics of Bird Watching,
is for beginners and is hap-
pening from 7 to 8 p.m. on
Wed., May 9, at Philip S.
Miller Library, 100 S. Wilcox St. If you’re new to bird
watching in Castle Rock, this class is for you. This
indoor program will teach bird identi cation, how
to choose and use binoculars and eld guides, and
where to nd the best birding spots. PART 2 of the
class, Guided Bird Watching Walk, is scheduled for
8 to 10 a.m., Sat., May 12, at the reimagined Festi-
val Park – Second & Perry streets. Participants will
take to East Plum Creek Trail in search of migratory
songbirds and birds of prey. This two-hour walk is
designed to advance birding skills learned during
part one, but attendance to part one is not required
for this class. Remember to bring your own binoc-
ulars. The two-part birding classes are not recommended for children under 8 years old.
