          "'Quite well Ryken.
          "Thank you," I said, "but may I ask for a short letter
        of introduction?"
          "Oh, the  Jesuit  Fathers will no doubt see to that."
          "Certainly,  Your Excellenry,  but I have been told that
        a letter from yorr would  be very valuable to me.',
          "Very well," he said. After I  had waited a short
          time, he handed  me a letter of inroduction  written
          in Latin.
