1.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1.1 My name is Darren Jon Page. I am a director of Lytle Associates Architects, an
architectural practice, based in Guildford, Surrey. The company specialises in
the residential, commercial, health and education sectors and I have particular
responsibility for work carried out in residential design, particularly large-scale
developer residential schemes and masterplanning.
1.2 I graduated from the University of Portsmouth and hold both an honours
degree and diploma in architecture. I was awarded the Barrington Smith
Scholarship and studied and worked at Paolo Soleri’s visionary city of the
future, Arcosanti in Arizona, USA. I became a full member of the Royal
Institute of British Architects in 1998.
1.3 My work with Lytle Associates Architects has included the master planning
and residential development of a wide range of sites, a large number of which
have included sensitive planning issues such as Green Belt or Conservation
Area designations. I have been responsible for major projects throughout the
UK including 600 units in Horley, Surrey, 700 residential units at Leybourne
Grange in Kent, 500 units at Runwell Hospital in Essex, and high density urban
schemes in the London Boroughs of Harrow, Greenwich, Kingston and New
Eltham. Our design and conservation work at Claybury, Ilford for 390
dwellings in a listed core of Victorian buildings set within a Repton landscape
was recognised as an exemplar by English Heritage in their publication
‘Capital Solutions,’ and included a further 900 new build dwellings in the
surrounding countryside.
1.4 Lytle Associates Architects acts for major institutional landowners, the NHS, a
range of national house builders and specialist residential developers. We not
only deal with the planning stage of the projects, but also the implementation
of the proposals through to the final occupation.
1.5 I have acted on behalf of many clients throughout the appeal process via
written representations, informal hearing and public inquiry.
