We learned that there were friends driving up from Oregon to help in the search. One of my
friends said that she learned of his recovery from a Facebook friend in Russia.
Sherman had chosen me to live with, there had been many other women who had seen him,
called his name and he would not go to them, but the minute he realized it was me calling him,
he came to me. The original couple who had Sherman was able to adopt another Kees looking
for and home.
We took Sherman to the emergency vet to be checked out and he was dirty but had not been
injured. I learned over the next couple days that he had been eating birdseed and had some
gravel which showed up in his stool. He is a survivor.
Sherman has gone on to become a remarkable therapy dog, visiting people in retirement and
nursing homes, listening to kids’ reading to him and comforting college students as they take
their mid- terms and finals at a local university. I remain amazed that a dog living in a puppy
mill, not getting the proper socialization should turn out to be such a warm and loving dog.
He loves to be cuddled and wants to be near you.
