 DIRECTOR’S LETTER
Besides cooler temps and colorful vistas, fall brings many unique and wonderful ways for libraries and patrons to celebrate:
September is Library Card
Sign-up Month, so if you have yet
to get a a BTPL card, be sure to stop by and get one. You will have access to Metro Park passes, audiobook downloads, tv shows and movies, and, of course, books. Your tax dollars at work!
Banned Books Week is September 19-25 and we always host a display that might surprise you. Freedom to read is a fundamental right and one we honor and celebrate.
is September 28 and designated by the American Association of School Librarians to “bring attention to
the overly aggressive filtering of educational and social websites used by students and educators.”*
TeenTober is a monthlong celebration in October to celebrate teen services, programs, and materials.
Banned Websites Awareness Day
National Friends of Libraries Week is October 17-23 and provides libraries an opportunity to thank our Friends for their hard work in raising money for library programs and materials.
If you’re interested in joining the Brandon Friends, please visit https:// www.brandonlibrary.org/fol/
Picture Book Month in November provides an opportunity to celebrate the “print picture book in an increasingly digital age.”* Make sure to check out our new books display and ask our library staff for reading suggestions!
International Games Week is November 7-13 and a way for patrons of all ages to participate in online and/ or board games for social interaction with peers as well as to develop gaming strategies.
As you can see, there is always something going on at your library!

A Letter from the Friends of the Library
Hello friends and library advocates!
Well, it’s been a rough year hasn’t it? Fortunately, things seem to be turning around now, finally! I hope the remainder of 2021 is much better
for everyone.
In case you have not heard, I wanted to let you know the FOL bookstore is open! We have installed a new cash box for your convenience, right out in front of the store. We are accepting donations for the bookstore too. So, please consider a donation of books or cash to help fund your library’s programs.
Also, our October FOL meeting will be held at the library! I’m really looking forward to seeing our library friends in-person. Come on out and join us! We’d love to see and hear from you!
At the Brandon Township Friends of the Library we are volunteering our time, energy, and talents towards extending our library’s capacity to better serve Brandon Township, which we do through gifts of money from book sales and other activities. Please join us in our efforts. We’d love your help! We’d love to hear your fundraising ideas! I invite you to become a FOL member and a Brandon Township Public Library advocate!
Please join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 6:00 PM. Tom Roberts – FOL President
