Session 1: Mental Health and Well-Being | Q & A with Leo Pozuelo, MD

More than 25% of Americans will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder in their lifetime. Dr. Pozuelo will address the growing need for mental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic and how virtual visits have become an integral part of how patients are receiving mental health care. He will also discuss the impact of mental health on individuals, families and the community, as well as Cleveland Clinic’s approach to care and treatment.
Leo Pozuelo, MD, FACP, has been a Staff Psychiatrist at Cleveland Clinic since 1997. He served as the Section Head of Consultation Psychiatry from 2005 to 2019. Dr. Pozuelo is dual trained in internal medicine and psychiatry. In 2011, he was appointed Vice Chair, Clinical, of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Pozuelo’s current duties include expanding consultation psychiatry service lines through six regional hospitals, collaborating with nursing and social work in behavioral medicine education, leading the enterprise on the delirium task force and supporting behavioral health integration as part of population management.
Session 2: Healthy at Work | Q & A with James Merlino, MD 11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. EDT
A leader of Cleveland Clinic’s Back to Work initiative, Dr. Merlino will highlight the current recommended strategies for companies and organizations returning to the office. He will also explain what employees should expect from their employer as they return to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
James Merlino, MD, is Cleveland Clinic’s Chief Clinical Transformation Officer, and oversees Enterprise Safety and Quality, the Office of Patient Experience and Continuous Improvement. With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Merlino is a recognized expert in improving the patient experience and is frequently invited to speak on strategies to redefine care around the needs of patients. In 2013, Dr. Merlino was named to HealthLeaders Magazine’s list of “20 people who make healthcare better,” and Becker’s Hospital Review’s List of top 50 experts in healthcare safety four years in a row (2015-2018). He has been widely published in academic papers and is the author and editor of two books.
