2019 BENEFITS ENROLLMENT
BENEFITS ENROLLMENT
Annual Look Back Period
Each year Intertek is required under the Afordable Care Act to
complete an annual review of hours worked by each employee which
is not beneit eligible and determine if the employee is eligible for
beneits for the next plan year. For any employee who averaged
30 or more hours per week during the look back period is eligible
to participate in open enrollment. For employees who are currently
eligible for beneits and no longer working an average of 30 hours per
week based on our look back period, those employees will become
ineligible for beneits for the next calendar year. The lookback period
for the 2019 plan year is from October 4, 2017 to October 3, 2018.
Newly Hired Employees
New hires who are scheduled to work more than 30 hours per
week are considered beneit eligible and will be able to participate
in beneits upon completion of the new hire waiting period. Newly
hired employees have 30 days from your date of hire to enroll. If you
miss this new hire enrollment opportunity, you must wait until annual
enrollment to elect or change your coverage. You may also change
your coverage if you experience a qualifying life event. Intertek will
conduct a New Hire Look Back review for all employees who were
not deemed beneit eligible as a new hire. The New Hire Look back
period will review the irst 10 months of employment and determine if
the employee worked an average of 30 or more hours per week during
that time. If yes, then the employee will be ofered an enrollment
window to add any beneits they choose. If not eligible, the employee
will be annually reviewed under the Annual Look Back period each
year to determine eligibility for the next plan year.
