Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE’s Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation

Authority (GCAA), stated: “Achieving the milestone of one million air traffic movements in a single year

is not a mere numerical achievement but a reflection of the UAE’s steadfast commitment to developing
the aviation sector as a cornerstone of its national economy and solidifying its position as a global air

transport destination.”

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, commented: “This is a result of years of
planning, innovation, and close collaboration with our partners in the aviation sector.” He emphasized

the commitment to enhancing systems and services to uphold the highest standards of safety and

efficiency.

Infrastructure and Technological Advancements:

The Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre, operated by the GCAA, played a pivotal role in this
achievement. Recognized as one of the world’s busiest air traffic control centers, the center integrated
advanced systems and adopted innovative solutions in 2024 to improve airspace efficiency and
minimize delays. Additionally, the GCAA enhanced airspace capacity to meet increasing demands
while ensuring safety and reliability.

Economic Impact:

According to the Air Transport Action Group, aviation’s total global economic impact is estimated at
$4.1 trillion. In Dubai alone, aviation-facilitated tourism spending contributed approximately AED 43
billion in gross value added, accounting for 8.5% of Dubai’s GDP and supporting 329,000 jobs.

Future Outlook:

With advanced infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and state-of-the-art technologies, the UAE is well-
equipped to handle even greater volumes in the years ahead, reinforcing its status as a leading global
air transport destination.
