Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the
GCAA, hailed the achievement as a reflection of the UAE’s commitment to innovation and
sustainability in aviation.
“This milestone is not just a numerical achievement but a
testament to our dedication to enhancing the aviation
sector, a cornerstone of our national economy,”
he stated. With over 20% growth in air traffic over the past two years, the UAE continues to
demonstrate its capacity to handle increasing demand.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, emphasized the team’s
hard work and innovative approach.
“Exceeding one million air traffic movements is the result
of years of planning, collaboration, and dedication. With a
10.3% growth rate in 2024, we remain committed to
upholding the highest standards of safety and efficiency,”
he said.
The historic one-millionth movement was marked on December 22 with the arrival of
Emirates Flight 305 from Shanghai. This milestone underscores the Sheikh Zayed Air
