Ken’s 33 Tommy Ring’s fi rst foray into Rat Rod Magazine
journalism came in the form of his $1500 build series
that taught you how to scratch build something drivable,
fun, and ultimately cheap. Tommy’s articles have really
helped make building rat rods accessible to a whole new
audience, and he’s continued to try new things and take
different approaches – from classic Chevy and Ford, to
his V-Bucket and Willys builds. All on a budget, all cool.

Steve’s $1000 Diamond T build exemplifi es
everything we love about the Build-Off’s, from
the resourcefulness needed to assemble a
dependable vehicle on the cheap - to the way it
was built: outside, using a forklift as a hoist. Nothing
fancy, just pure heart and determination.
