BUILD. DRIVE. ENJOY.
Until Jim set out to meet up with us at
Steelfest 2014, Jim had never ventured
more than 50-60 miles with his rig. He
said that the experience of participating
in the 2014 Tour “opened up his world.”
Last year he loaded up the roof rack,
shoved his son and daughter in the car
and they set off for last June’s event in
Bristol, TN. It turns out that this ‘29 Ford
is quite the cross-country touring vehicle.
No need to stop for fast food – they just
throw foil packs of steak, shrimp, and
potatoes on the 6BT and let the engine
do the cooking. BTW – Jim says to keep
the steak on the bottom and the potatoes
on the top.
The family also saves money on hotel
rooms by just sleeping on the ground
next to the vehicle. You’re probably
thinking, that’s not very safe. Listen...
would you mess with anybody sleeping
outside next to a beast like that? Not
many people would.
The bottom line is that Jim gets out
and drives the hell out of his ‘29, and it’s
something that he and his family can do
together.
