“When I was building this car, I had thoughts
that… when I was a kid, I had this car as a hot
wheel. I opened it, played with it, had a great time
with it, and then I lost it or buried it. And this is
what it would look like 45 years later after I found
it again – like a treasure.” Well heck - it’s kind of
something that a Pirate would do! Patrick contin-
ues: “It’s rusty, grungy, and I catch hell sometimes
for not cleaning my motor or not having perfect
seats. It’s part of the concept of the car.”
Patrick has plans to build another ’29 Hudson.
He’s not selling this one, though. It already
belongs to his 12-year-old daughter. The
plan is to get the second ’29 fi nished by
the time his daughter turns 16 so they
can attend car shows together. But
that’s the kind of man Patrick is. One
of the true ‘good guys’ of the rat
rodding scene.
