A point of contention between Patrick and Mike was the extreme
rake Patrick wanted. Patrick’s vision of the car was partially inspired
by an Ed Roth cartoon simply titled, ‘Race?’ It had all the typical
Roth themes: Big’n’little tires, an insane rake, and a monstrous
shifter protruding out of the roof. Mike had said that the rake Patrick
wanted would leave him staring at the engine and not the road.
They worked out a compromise and with some careful planning of
the driver’s seat, Patrick got most of the rake he wanted. The body
is heavily channeled in the front and very little in the rear to achieve
the extreme stance. He didn’t want the frame to be too low either, as
this car was meant to be driven. And drive he has all over Nevada,
California, and Utah.
