Ken’s ’39 started out as a stock half-ton that he received in return for
pouring some concrete for a friend. the chop that was mentioned earlier
relieved the roof of four inches of height, but Ken was just getting started.
Next, he channeled the cab four more inches over the frame. Low enough?
um, no. three more inches were removed from the bottom of the cab. the
original grille shell was reworked to keep proportions in check. even the box
didn’t escape unscathed. it was shortened eighteen inches and a foot was
taken out of the middle. the rear bumper is actually the front bumper, which
has been narrowed to match the box. All of the glass is bronze-tinted safety
glass. What’s cool is that it’s not a film – the glass itself is colored. All of it was
cut and installed by ‘glass man steve.’ steve also created the lenses for the
taillights, which are repurposed ’37 Buick marker lights.
