Anybody wanting
something cool for their garage
or man cave could bid on
something at one of the three
auctions that were held that
weekend. The best part was
that all of the proceeds went
to the It’s About The Warrior
foundation, whose mission is to
‘empower and assist ALL post-
9/11 veterans and their families
in the Tri-State area.’ The three
auctions raised over $7000 for
the foundation.
And speaking of those
that serve, the entire weekend
was set up to be a thank you
to all who serve – not just the
military, but also EMT’s, police,
and all others that serve and
protect. It was free admission
all weekend for those who give
so much to our communities.
Ed sums up the event like
this: “The best part for me is
the experiences that people
had. My buddy’s wife is 51 years
old and gets talked into doing
her hair and makeup, and she
gets third place in a pinup
contest. Old Man Benson came
out with a 1930’s-era Pontiac. I
didn’t get to see him go around
the track, but the stories were
like, ‘Did you see old man
Benson go around the track?
Every time he went around the
track his smile got bigger and
bigger!’ I talked to him about
a week later and he said, ‘you
could have beat me out on that
track with a bicycle but I had
the time of my life!’”
