Editor’s Notes
Reflection.
t seems to be the recurring theme of these editor’s Notes, and i
have a hard time these days writing trivial upbeat messages with Killbillet
no point. so instead, you get these deep and often poignant pieces
icentered on the inner workings of the magazine and rat rodding
from my perspective. My perspective being one of constant struggle,
fighting day in and day out as a magazine to stay alive. the national
newsstand is a dog-eat-dog world where each issue can be your last.
(We’ve all seen plenty of magazines come and go.)
every issue i tell myself – this has to be our best issue ever. And ad
i feel for the most part it is. We always have to be doing something
different, innovative, creative… and we always have to bring it back
around to the blue-collar build. We have to represent rat rod culture
and the builders who make it what it is. We have to be that newsstand
presence, and we have to do it without fear, inhibitions, or compromise.
And we will.
here in issue #30, we have an eclectic mix of people and machines
– from California usA to Lorraine, France, the rat rod spirit is alive, well,
and growing stronger. the beauty and ingenuity of these machines
speaks for itself, and we hope to have
captured some of that magic on
these pages.
And oh by the way – Katie Daryl’s
back, with a vengeance. Why?
Because she rOCKs. (seriously, Katie
is hands-down one of the coolest
people we have ever worked with,
and we’ve worked with a lot of cool
people.) A huge thanks to erika
and Johnny Croner (our California
A-team) for pulling it all together.
the biggest thanks of all – to you,
the reader. Without you picking up
this copy of the magazine, there
would be no point in making one.
