time to construct a new floor for the cab. He had
always dreamed of having a truck with exhaust stacks so
installed a set. The entire truck also had to be rewired.
Tom wanted to dedicate this story “not to all the parts stores... but to all the pack rats I ran
from their homes in the rusty old vehicles I rescued, full of cactus under the hoods, the wiring eaten up, bed
sides full of sage… heater boxes stuffed with blankets and cabs full of wood, and cow chips to the windows.
